Andre Clouet Champagne Dream Vintage 2006 versus Dream Vintage 2005 Grand Cru
Both of these vintage champagnes are made of 100% Chardonnay with the grapes coming directly from their vineyards in Bouzy, thus they are considered Blanc de Blancs. We at Fine Wines have been a big fan of Andre Clouet champagnes, and their dream vintages should be on any champagne lover wish list as there’s definitely lots of surprise awaiting you. Recently I have noticed Andre Clouet has been well recognized internationally, and I suspect investing in Andre Clouet champagnes will have a good investment returnin the future. While it may not be fair to compare 2005 Grand Cru versus 2006 normal production, it still gives us a guideline which vintage is worth investing. I find 2006 full of minerality and a bold style champagne, whereas 2005 has a lot of finesse and elegance, soft and feminine characteristics. I personally prefer the 2005 vintage, but I will not rule out 2006 for the long run as the mineral character makes the champagne more age-worthy. Thus, amongst the two bottles, it really boils down to what style you prefer and what’s your objective of buying Andre Clouet. Drink now, buy 2005. Buy to keep and age for another decade, 2006 probably is a wiser choice.
