L'evangile was bought over by Lafite Rothschild a couple of years ago. Certainly Lafite will not buy a garbage vineyard right? Thus we had a small vertical of L'evangile to find out the reason, with vintages of 66, 72, 89 and 95.
Our takeaway; L'evangile is almost forever young! This wine age at a glacial speed. The 66 was as fresh as a 10 year old vintage, and a weak vintage like 72 was still decent drinking now. Both 89 & 95 were way too young and needed more time to evaluate!
