Chateau Les Mesclances Faustine
OAK INFLUENCE
On the first sip I was stunned by the huge vanilla taste, thus I have to question the winemaker what kind of oak profile? I was told they aged the wine two years in the oak barrel, that explained why the vanilla influence was so strong.
Apart from the oak, the grape type of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon was also suitable for strong oak. Heavy grip, structured. I was also impressed by the thickness or density of the wine, plus the lushness. Surprised Provence can produce decent red wines.
