I have done many comparisons for both wines, but I have never put this pair together to have a heads on clash.

As I also gave Jean Dauvissat’s Montmains , check out the review here! , my objective of this tasting is to find out whether my scoring was accurate? Unashamedly I think I was spot on. Both tasted on par straight from the bottle. Both had this lively acidity that keeps attracting my palate. After some indulgent tasting, I found Pitangerets more steely, more minerality, while Montmains possessed a much more feminine character with more rounded taste, and the fruits were more penetrating. The buttery bouquet from the oak were in play for both wines when they were warmed up. Overall, Montmains still won by a whisker over Pitangerets and my preferred choice.
