Juyondai Daiginjo Sakemirai Yamagata
I ordered a bottle of this sake, the big format, 1.8L at the price of $1,650++ in the restaurant of Ki Sho last night. The food was exceptional, but the sake, I have to reserve my opinion about it. No doubt it was a big name, big label, but really not to my liking. Served in a baccarat champagne glass, I get a lot of big bouquet of fruity and a hint of rice fragrance. The content was so fruity, and also relatively sweet, I suspect an SMV value of probably 0 to 2. It made the sushi flavour somehow got washed away and not exactly matching to the sushi taste, especially the sea urchin dishes. Of course, not all are negative, the refined quality of the sake and the smoothness was a big plus. However, I really much prefer their own house brand Ki Sho Junmai Daiginjio.
