MV Andre Clouet 1911 Cuvee 81
Different cuvee has different blend thus resulting in different tastes. This Cuvee 81 has a base blend of about 50% of 2008 grape, and 50% of the blend came from 10 different Soldera aged grape varietals from vintages before 2010. A whiff and a sip and I can probably decipher a lot of tasting notes; bouquet was loaded with yeasty and fruity tastes. Body was a mixed blend of metallic and mineral with very ripe fruits. Two aspect to this mixed blend, the metallic and mineral (a bit steely) style was probably due to the excellent vintage of 2008, implying this wine probably can age for a good two decades on the safe side. The very ripe and forward fruity style came from the Solera system, whereby the blend was exposed to some sunlight, thus accelerating the maturity of the bubbles to give you an illusion that this bubble was aged for many years. All in all, comparing to some other cuvees, I do enjoy this cuvee 81, as I think this was done in a very excellent way.
