TOP 5 REASONS WHY YOU MUST TASTE THEM

1)  A Legendary Winery

Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley and is often seen as a benchmark for quality Côte-Rôtie. The top three wines from Guigal are known affectionately in some circles as the La La’s, which is short for La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque.

This is an excellent opportunity to taste La Mouline and La Landonne side by side, gaining deeper insight into the unique terroirs of these two exceptional vineyards.

2) 1989 E. Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline

With just over 2,000 bottles produced annually, La Mouline is a rare and iconic wine that every wine enthusiast should experience. Tasting a 36-year-old vintage makes this opportunity even more extraordinary.  Crafted predominantly from Syrah with a small percentage of Viognier, this wine originates from a mere 1-hectare parcel on the famed Côte Blonde. The vines, some nearing a century in age, impart incredible depth and character.

La Mouline is not just a wine—it's a journey into the heart of Côte-Rôtie winemaking excellence.

"A dreamy opulence, gobs of fruit, an unctuous texture, and powerful finish"
Robert Parker - 98 Points

3) 1989 E. Guigal Cote Rotie Landonne

Another killer wine to indulge on!

With fewer than 5,000 bottles produced each year, La Landonne is a legend in the making. Sourced from a mere 2.1-hectare plot planted exclusively with Syrah, this wine has captivated connoisseurs since its debut in 1978. Nestled on one of the Côte Brune's steepest slopes—a dramatic 45-degree incline of pure schist—La Landonne embodies power and precision.

Known for its intense structure and bold tannins, this is the Côte-Rôtie that demands patience, often taking decades to fully unveil its breathtaking potential.

"Ultra Pure! Its a Killer!"
Robert Parker - 99 Points

"Petrus-like! Gloriously hedonistic!"
Jancis Robinson - 19.5/20 points
(Jancis Robinson seldom give such high scores.....but when she does you have to believe her)

4) Hermitage or Cote Rotie? Power or Elegance?

Both Eguigal wines represent the pinnacle of Rhône craftsmanship, yet each tells a unique story of its terroir. Which will captivate your palate? The robust majesty of Hermitage or the sensual allure of Côte-Rôtie? Taste them side by side and let your senses decide!

5) Nicolas Champagneux: A Rising Star of Côte-Rôtie Unveiled
A true "rising star" of the Rhône, Nicolas Champagneux’s deep connection to Côte-Rôtie began in childhood. He learned the art of winemaking from his father Gérard, vineyard manager for the legendary Guigal, and his uncle, who managed the family’s prized vineyards—sources for Guigal’s world-class wines.

After inheriting a parcel of the famed "Les Grandes Places" vineyard on Côte Brune, Nicolas established his family domaine, producing wines under his own label. With support from his wife Oriane and guidance from Rhône's icon Yves Cuilleron, he built a winery to craft wines that embody the soul of Côte-Rôtie. Nicolas Champagneux’s wines are a testament to passion, heritage, and exceptional terroir—a must-try for lovers of fine Rhône wines.
