“BEST COS EVER! I kid you not! The 1990 was a total exception for Cos d’Estournel. I even once hosted a 5 decades of vertical Cos, no vintage can beat the 1990. I drank it many times and I have to stress provenance is key here. It had this creamy latte bouquet coupled with smokes and wet tobacco. Palate was exceptional, absolutely first growth standard, young, elegant, creamy, chocolate, and very rich. Served double blind, my guess was a Latour 89! So you can figure where it stands!

Not as concentrated as the 1982, or as most of the vintages made since 2001, the 1990 Cos has reached full maturity. It exhibits sweet berry fruit intermixed with spice box, herbs, and spring flowers. Expansive, round, and sensual, with wonderful purity as well as lushness, this irresistible wine can be enjoyed over the next 6-10 years (6/2009)
