Wine With Bok - 10/10 Stars
SPEECHLESS. I thought I knew Bordeaux well enough, and this fourth growth wouldn’t make a statement, but Lo and Behold, this was probably one of the best Pauillac produced in 1990! Frankly, 90 and 96 were the best of Pauillac vintages, and all the underrated wines took the limelight! Full flavor, so much going on in the body. The provenance was too pristine that this bottle still had a lot of unresolved tannins, but the flavor was astonishing; deep, penetrating, lush, generous, and I’m speechless. (Feb 2018)
Wine With Bok - 10/10 Stars
The colour here is dark with good concentration, and the nose has a tightly defined fruit character, reticent rather than open, with a light sprinkle of chalk over some floral, black fruits. The palate has a very polished style, with a shell of fruit sitting around a core of very firm tannins which, although a strong component of the blend, do not over ride the other elements.
I was happy I found a gem tonight during the blind tasting. I don't know what it was but I enjoyed it very much, it was my wine of the night as it has more stamina than d'Issan 82. Nose is very fruity, dark berry fruits, slight green notes. Palette is very balanced, rich, lush, dark fruits, and the elegance which I thought it was done by merlot won my heart. Later I found that this wine has 1/3 merlot base, and I understood why it was so attractive. 1990 was a superb Pauillac vintage. Try it to believe! (10/2014)
