The 2008 was youthful, in fact more subdued and shyer, with a touch of inferiority. In addition, 2008 was more metallic and with more acidity. 2008 wasn’t a love at first strike, but it has a long-term aging potential, and will turn out to be a stunning vintage down the road. (5/2020)

Such a classic Blanc de Blancs champagne with the special elegance, brilliance and minerality of the 2008 vintage. Very well structured, but without the austere acidity structure that some 2008s have. Long and very clean finish that sends you back to the glass. 100% chardonnay. Drink or hold.

Sourced from a grower as a swap for pinot noir, the union of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Bouzy chardonnay is perhaps an unlikely marriage, but it works to delightful effect. The tension, minerality and presence of Le Mesnil is bolstered by the body and richness of Bouzy, softening the mineral tension of the village and the scintillating acid cut that defines 2008. Layered with spice, grapefruit and white peach of effortless poise, it propels upward with epic length and seamless line.
