Wine With Bok - 9.5/10 Stars
I was cooking a seafood Bouillabaisse dish, wanted a white burgundy to company my soup, saw these two bottles of Verget Blanchot 2009 and Vaudesir 2009 lying side by side in my cellar, I thought that’s a perfect wine to go with my soup, so might as well opened both! It started off with Vaudesir being more fruity and floral, softer with great acidity as the backbone. However, less than 5 mins the Blanchot overtook the Vaudesir with more accentuated minerality and friendly fruits, and surprisingly with enhanced acidity as well, making it ahead of Vaudesir. The two Grand Crus fought neck to neck for the whole night like this like a tug of war. No winner was pronounced at the end of the dinner. As I can’t consume 2 bottles all by myself, so a lot of leftovers for the next day, and the battle started all over again. Up till the last drop, I found both were great wines as I could not find a winner, no loser today, I truly enjoyed the experience with a neck to neck battle. (3/2019)
