Ripe al Convento is a wine made with scrupulous care and attention from individual berry selection in the vineyard to vinification and ageing in the cellar. It is a Brunello Riserva with powerful personality and exceptional ageing ability. The wine spend a minimum of 2 years in a mix of Large Slavonian oak ovals and French oak barrels, and release 6 years only after harvest.

On the highest hills of this estate, which began producing wine in the year 1800, asmallSangiovese vineyard amazes us with extraordinary emotions. At an altitude of 450 metres, the vineyard benefits from warm sun in the afternoon, galestro type soil, and fresh Mediterranean breezes, producing a uniquely elegant Brunello Riserva, with personality and longevity.

James Suckling - 97 points
A firm, silky red with black and red cherries and hints of mint. Undergrowth and wild-strawberry undertones. It’s full-bodied with super fine yet structured tannins that lead the wine down a deep and intense palate. A minerally, almost chalk and oyster-shell undertone to the fruit. (11/2020)

Wine Advocate - 94 points
The Frescobaldi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Ripe al Convento di Castelgiocondo offers rich density and soft texture with a good balance of fruit, spice and structure. Frescobaldi was among a handful of producers to make a Riserva in 2014, and this follow-up vintage shows the superiority of the growing season for sure. This 2015 edition has a better sense of balance and fruit, and there's more meat on these bones. There's also more fruit fiber for longer aging. (11/2020)
