2019 Jean Philippe Janoueix Sacre Coeur - 750ml
3 Bottles @ $84
6 Bottles @ $79
Wine With Bok - 9/10 stars
This small vineyard of about 1.5 hectare produces only Merlot grape varietal, thus the wine is made of 100% Merlot. Production is around 3,000 to 5,000 annually, which implies a small amount compared to the big names in Bordeaux, as such, fans have to beg to even make it onto the waiting list. The vineyard is well situation not far from Chateau Beauregard and Clos du Clocher. Surprisingly loads of chocolate along with plum on the bouquet, the wine is made probably for early consumption as the palate is rather straight forward with light layers of chocolate and cherries. Quite a typical Pomerol style, worth seeking out for the experience of a common Pomerol terroir. (8/2023)
A Jean-Philippe Janoueix wine from vines of Château La Croix. This 100% Merlot intrigues purists and impassions amateur wine lovers. Sacré Coeur is a perfectionist’s quest for a single-varietal wine from one of the the finest terroirs in the world. The wine enjoys the delicacy and complex nuances that originate from the Merlot grown upon gravel and light clay soils. This micro-production of 1.5 hectares (3.5 acres) is almost unobtainable: only three to five thousand bottles are produced each year, so devotees must beg to even make it onto the waiting list.
