Winemaker Notes
The Domaine Pierre Amiot is an old school Burgundy estate based in Morey-St-Denis. They’ve just welcomed the 6th generation into the business, and year after year turn out humbly delicious red Burgundies. Their 2019s are terrific, with gorgeous textures and excellent aging potential. The Clos de la Roche 2019 is big and dense, with extraordinary length on the palate. There is dark, sweet fruit and great density, so it’s not for drinking short term. But Burghound thought it “one of the best recent vintages that I have seen for this wine,” awarding 91-94 points. If you’ve ever had a bottle of this wine with a few years of age behind it, you’ll know just how special a plot it is.
