Wine By Bok - 9.25/10 Stars
Domaine wines are personally handled by Paul Aegerter himself, thus quality are normally very decent. Les Chaboufs is a Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru vineyard in Cote de Nuits, a very small plot of only 2.8 hectares, thus production is limited. The wine is aged in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, for 10 to 12 months. Bouquet is definitive fresh strawberries along with floral notes and a great perfume nose. I find the content very interesting, with two very prominent characters. Firstly, it’s a very seductive wine with great finesse. Secondly, the fruits are bigger than a usual premier cru with good structure, ripe but fresh cherry fruit is a definitive character, along with very fine tannins. I must confess it’s a blend of the best of both worlds with such bipartisan characters, quite an unusual premier cru. (4/2023)
