2021 Jean Michel Gerin Cote Rotie Champin Le Seigneur - 750ml
Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is located on the Côte Rôtie in the village of Ampuis, in the northern Rhône Valley. Jean-Michel Gerin acquired his first plot of vines in Côte Rôtie in 1983 and released his first vintage four years later. His first single-vineyard wine, Les Grandes Places, debuted in 1988, followed by La Landonne in 1996. The estate's most recent addition, La Viallière, came from a vineyard planted in 2003 and was first produced in 2009. Today, the estate spans nearly 17 hectares, with Jean-Michel’s sons, Michaël and Alexis, actively involved in the viticulture. In 2020, the estate began its conversion to organic farming.
Champin Le Seigneur is a blend of Syrah (95%) and Viognier (5%), sourced from vines approximately 30 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo cool-temperature alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats. The wine is aged for 22 months, with 70% in barrels of one or two previous wines and 30% in new barrels.
