Who doesn't love a Lirac, the baby brother of a Chateauneuf Du Pape. The property has been in the family for four generations, and is one of the most prestigious producers in the southern Côtes-du-Rhône. The vineyards are situated on elevated terraces that are covered with large round stones and the wines produced are very characteristic of the soil in this region. 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre totally de-stemmed with ferment up to 3 weeks and aged 2/3 in tank and 1/3 in barrel for 18 months before assembling and bottling and ageing another 4 months under cork before sale.
Wine With Bok - 9/10 Stars
Lirac is probably a lesser-known appellation amongst Southen Rhone wines, which is a small village. Lirac is situated in the low hills along the right bank of the Rhone river in the Southern Rhone wine region, perhaps far from the beaten path. Bouquet is light and pleasant, with very little oak influence, seems to be revealing a very natural wine character. Content wise, my first impression is a very youthful wine, I decanted half the bottle, I can almost taste the young grapes with very high acidity. Surprisingly at half an hour mark, I noticed some changes to the body of the wine, as it has grown to be more concentrated and compact, flavour has been greatly enhanced with the decanting. I must confess such evolution is a very good hallmark for a village wine, as normally a poor wine would have been flat throughout the drinking session. As such, I would highly recommend wine connoisseurs to pay a little more attention to this appellation production. It can bring surprises in the future. (07/2024)

This wine welcomes you with classic garrigue aromas followed by a blend
of boysenberry, dark plums and black cherry. Well-integrated tannins
offer texture and sets the stage for an abundance of ripe black
cherries, dried thyme and cardamom. Its lingering saline finish easily
makes this wine a wonderful pairing for various lamb or roasted meat
preparations.
