Great find! This Les Chenevottes plot stands as one of Philippe Colin’s most captivating expressions, alongside En Remilly! Philippe Colin’s meticulous grape selection and fermentation in oak barrels reveal the full depth of flavors, while aging in both new and seasoned French oak—alongside careful bâtonnage—adds layers of complexity and finesse. The bouquet opens with elegant, well integrated oak and an inviting blend of fresh, ripe pear aromas. Known as a powerful plot within Chassagne Montrachet, this wine shines with vibrant acidity that beautifully balances its robust fruit character. The interplay between the acidity and oak offers an impeccable balance, showcasing a wine that is powerful yet remarkably poised. Just a little more colour here, and a brisker nose with some tangy plum fruit. Excellent weight on the palate. Not too soft nor too heavy, the acidity works well here. A long finish with a crisper touch. Overall, I prefer the balance here to the Chaumées, and there is a little more complexity in the fruit. (10/2023)
