Wine by Bok: 9.25/10 stars
Produced by Leon Amiot, a cousin estate to Domaine Amiot that shares a similar winemaking philosophy, this Gevrey Chambertin offers a beautifully classic expression of the 2023 vintage. The wine opens with complex aromas of dark cherries and earthy undertones that reflect the authenticity of the terroir. On the palate, it shows excellent balance with lively acidity and refined cherry fruit that delivers freshness and elegance. The structure suggests impressive aging potential and the wine is expected to evolve gracefully for at least a decade. This vintage captures the essence of Gevrey Chambertin with clarity and precision. (03/2026)
The vineyards lie at around 250 meters elevation with east to south-east exposure, capturing gentle morning sunlight. Soils are mainly clay-limestone with clayey marls, and the estate’s parcels are situated in the locality known as Les Seuvrées. The domaine is experimenting with grassing-over to enhance soil vitality. From viticulture to vinification, every step is adjusted according to the vintage to craft the finest wines while preserving the typicity of the terroir. Ageing takes place in oak barrels for 16 to 18 months. The wine shows a harmonious balance of roundness, acidity, and tannins. It is generous with good body, expressive retro-nasal fruit, notable length, and a pleasant, enjoyable finish.
