2023 Matias Riccitelli This Is Not Another Lovely Torrontes - 750ml
The grapes used for this cuvée are sourced from the historic Allen vineyard, located in the Alto Valley of Rio Negro, Patagonia, nestled midway between the Andes Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Planted in the late 1960s, the ungrafted (pre-phylloxera), low-yielding vines are cultivated naturally using organic farming practices, allowing the wines to fully express the unique terroir and varietal characteristics. The grapes are hand-harvested at peak ripeness and meticulously sorted before vinification.
For this wine, 50% of the grapes undergo gentle pressing before fermentation, while the remaining 50% are fermented on the skins, creating a layered and intricate flavor profile. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with wild yeasts in clay amphorae, followed by 8 months of aging. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its natural essence.
This wine offers a complex aromatic profile, with notes of citrus, floral essential oils, white peach, ripe apple, orange blossom, aromatic herbs, and a subtle chalky minerality. On the palate, it is perfectly balanced, showcasing a rich texture, elegant structure, and a refined, saline finish.
