Quevedo
The Quevedo family's winemaking heritage spans five generations, beginning with Abel Gouveia Costa, who planted the first vines in Valongo dos Azeites, S. João da Pesqueira, in 1889. Abel's son, Raul, expanded the business, and later, his son-in-law, João Batista Quevedo, further grew the vineyards and passed on his passion to his son, Óscar Quevedo Sr. Beatriz's family, rooted in the Carrazeda district, also contributed to the family's rich viticulture legacy. The Quevedo family's Quinta da Alegria estate remains central to their operations. In the late 1970s, Oscar Sr. and Beatriz settled in S. João Pesqueira in the Douro Valley, modernizing the winemaking facilities and establishing Quevedo's first winery. Over time, they cultivated 100 hectares of vineyards and 25 hectares of organic olive groves. In 1993, the Quevedo brand was officially founded, marking a new era for the family. Today, the fifth generation, Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo Jr., carry on the family tradition, ensuring the legacy will be preserved for future generations.
