1958 Chateau Margaux
ALMOST DEAD
My friend wasn't sure whether this bottle was alive or not, he uncorked it last night. I quickly poured myself a glass, took a whiff, uh oh, trouble. It smelled really musty, borderline madeirized. I'd say sit in the glass for 5 mins. Merely 2 mins I observed the musty smell got blown off, and I quickly declared it as alive. True enough, it lasted the whole afternoon. Although light style from a poor vintage, Ch Margaux was still alive, sweet and soft, keeps gaining weight thereafter. Phew!
