1971 Chateau Gruaud Larose Saint Julien
OLD LOVE
Anybody who ever had an aged Gruaud Larose (before 85) probably would have agreed with me that Cordier Family's flagship will take at least 3 decades of aging, but when you taste it, it's always a wow! 1971 is no difference, not quite a left bank vintage, but GL was one of the best produced. Extremely strong tobacco, extremely smokey and grassy/vegetal/green. Palette had great structure, albeit too dry, creamy , sweet and slightly green. A very enjoyable Bordeaux wine that suits my palette.
