1978 Bouchard Pere & Fils Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru
HUMBLE PIE
Served blind. This was the oldest Chevalier Montrachet that I ever had, the development was beyond belief! The nose started off as seafood shells, then oyster shell, palate was a bit salty. At this point we were all guessing it had to come from Chablis. Owner said wrong, and I boldly declared it won't be a Puligny Montrachet, and this was at best a premier cru. Man, you should see my expression when I was told that not only it was a Puligny Montrachet, but was a Grand Cru of 39 years old!
