1978 Branaire Ducru Saint Julien
A GLIMPSE OF OLD WINE
40 years for this bottle was only mid life for many Bordeaux, although I feel this one may have aged slightly faster than same vintage from Bordeaux.
Nose was keeping me up, very fragrant mingled with fine oak and aged mushrooms. Content wise, fruits were slightly on the fading side but definitely still alive and kicking. With age, it’s very difficult to decipher where it came from, so there’s no definitive Saint Julien character. Although the left bank style was prominent.
