1978 Chateau Palmer Margaux
OLD CHARM
I was with ex CEO of Ch Palmer Bernard Deleeger one afternoon talking about the charm of Palmer, and I asked him what are other vintages to watch out for besides legendary 61? He told me 70 & 78 were the next best in line that possessed the old charm character.
Last night I served the 78, everyone was guessing it was a 48, 58 ... Bernard's input certainly helped! Very floral nose to boot, turned tobacco leaves thereafter. Palate was pleasant and aged texture as well. Certainly an old charm.
