1978 Grivelet Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Vignes Du Chateau Bernarty
GREATEST FRENCH ‘78 2/7
I organized the best of the best French wines ‘78 and confined it to Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone only. Trying to find what region produced the best ‘78. All served double blind.
I wouldn’t exactly enjoy the nose as it was musty with heavy mouldy mushrooms along with some barley. But palate was impressive with very upfront and friendly style, deep, intense and a big wine in any aspect, was out of my imagination that it was a Premier Cru. Ended up consensus voted it as 2nd best.
