1978 La Lagune Haut Medoc Grand Cru Classe
There wasn’t too many vintages of La Lagune that I really liked, but when it performed, it exceeded my expectations. Bouquet of leathery charm, black fruits and forest floor. Content was really impressive, big, chunky and very fulfilling fruits put it as a really enjoyable wine, coupled with smooth leathery texture, gave the perfect wine to go with my char broiled lamb tonight. I can whisper to you only two vintages that I was impressed with La Lagune: 1978 and 1990, forget about those big vintages like 1982, 1985, 2000 and 2009, it didn’t perform at all.

FEMININE STYLE
I knew the current winemaker cum owner was a lady Caroline Frye, but 38 years ago I wasn't sure. I suspected to be a lady owner too! The style of the wine was very feminine. Someone please enlighten me?
Nose of a bit of steel rust, capsicum and beefy, fruity nose. I really enjoyed the palate; very mellow, elegant and feminine style, was a great wine from an average vintage. Most fruits and taste concentrated on the back palate as the front was a bit acidic and green which I tend to avoid.

Surprised for an average vintage that La Lagune aged so well. It started off with decent fragrant nose, good matured fruits, slightly green (given the vintage), very leathery. Palette is very enjoyable, rich, luscious, leathery, it's like biting on very ripe fruits, so chewy, so engaging.
