1979 Ausone Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe
One word disappointing. Old Ausone has never once performed up to my expectation, thus I stopped buying anymore aged Ausone. Needless to say, the poor vintage also played a big part in making lousy wines. This one tasted like dried Chinese herb. Truly disappointing. I cannot understand why the young ones costs so much, need to try a 2000 to judge myself whether it has drastically improved or not compared to old winemaking style.
