1982 Chateau Beychevelle Saint Julien
STEADY WINE
Beychevelle, a highly respected fourth classified growth, almost never failed in the older days, including this 82. For the 82 red wines line up tonight, this was many people's Wine of the Night. It possessed consistency in the glass, holding the content without evolution, hardly changed from start to finish, which showed that it had a lot more ageing potential. A chunky wine with solid content and very integrated tannins. It was a class by itself in the fourth growth classification.

A lovely nose, aromatic and fresh, and just a little toasty. Fresh on the palate too, with a fine, cool, purity of fruit. Stylish, minerally and textured, with fairly dense but crisp fruit, all well balanced. Gently supple, with lovely underlying structure.
Big & bold, a very decent Beychevelle.
