1982 Chateau Gloria Saint Julien Cru Bourgeois
I hardly venture into non classified Bordeaux wines, as my life is too short to drink poor quality wines. However, Chateau Gloria is an exception, as I once drank a bottle of their 1990 vintage, and I fell in love with it, as it’s as good as, if not better than the famed Leoville Poyferre 1990. Thus when I come across the 1982 vintage, I definitely want to get hold of it. The outcome: hugely inspiring and satisfying! One of the best 1982 wines I have drunk at this price range. I will not put it side by side with the like of 1982 first growth or the famed Pichon Lalande 82, but it’s definitely not far away. All my guests were impressed with the content. It’s smooth, well integrated and creamy, very Saint Julien style, very deep in multi dimensional flavor, so easy to drink, it’s effortless. In fact, there are still residual tannins lurking around, implying that it’ll still be able to age for another two decades easily.
