1982 La Marzelle St Emilion Grand Cru Classe
FIRST ENCOUNTER
I’ve never heard of or had this St Emilion label before, not to mention this is one of the many Grand Crus. A bit of homework: It was demoted from Grand Cru status in 2006 but back again in 2012. Planted with majority being merlot grapes, I can now understand what I drink.
This 82 is obviously young and alive, although too light on the palate. St Emilion is not the place for merlot grapes, thus I can see why this Chateau is failing after all these years. A pity.
