1982 Lamothe Cissac Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois
This chateau is situated between Pauillac and Saint-Estephe, the typical blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, aged in oak barriques, this chateau has been gaining recognition lately, although it is not easy to locate an old and good vintage like 1982 in the market. I have the pleasure to drink it tonight, and I happily report that this is a good wine from a good vintage. It possesses all the good characters of 1982 without compromise on the quality. I prefer to decant the wine for at least 30 mins to blow away the funk of aged Bordeaux, my normal practice. The cork was very intact, in fact, it took some effort to extract it even with The Durand wine opener. Condition is excellent. Beautiful aroma of old leather and tobacco. The content is impressive, with very classic Bordeaux beauty of softness, finesse and surprisingly, warmth! The warmth is like homecoming, feels right at home after a glass, very comforting wine, worth giving it a shot!
