1982 Leoville Poyferre Saint Julien
Nose: Very lovely nose that has a tart red fruit base and tones of red currants, red cherries, cedar, red florals and some tobacco tones.
It was a #1 once in a blind tasting of non first growth 82, so it reflects the status of this wine that cannot be ignored. However, I find huge btl variation after drinking at least half a dozen of this label and vintage. I am not sure whether it's the provenance issue or storage issue, or back in those days they are still doing barrel bottling, while modern days we have assemblage meaning the barrels will get blended altogether to get uniform result.
