1985 Chateau Cissac Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc
Attas Singaporeans hardly plunge into Cru Bourgeois territory, thinking that if there’s no 1855 classifications, these Cru Bourgeois aren’t worth drinking. Frankly, I think we need to give these non classified wines a second chance; there are plenty of gems out there, e.g. one of my all time favorite for Cru Bourgeois is Chateau Gloria, and I once tested an MW on Chateau Siran along with other first growth (The Usual Suspect of Four First Growth and a non First Growth Fine Wines Singapore), it proofs that Cru Bourgeois are in no way inferior. Cissac’s bouquet is stunning, being soft and feminine and very addictive to smell. As this bottle came from a magnum, the content is obviously still very young, it has not developed the tertiary flavor, still quite primary Bordeaux style, and towards the end, tannins are obviously still lurking around. It can still be kept for another decade or two without a blink of eye lid.
