This was fielded in a blind tasting amongst the big guys; Lafite 90, Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion 2000, Ducru Beaucaillou 82 and Trotanoy 85. It came in consensus vote #4, not spectacular. Nose of slight detergent, strangely. Body was very rounded with no tannins and suspiciously high Merlot content that made me jump to conclusion it was a Pomerol.

DECENT, BUT NOT GREAT, COS Had this bottle many times in the past. Always wished that it'll outperform. Despite bottle variations, it didn't outperform once, so I'd say it's a very consistent decent wine, but never a great Cos d'Estournel. Very vanilla driven on the nose, that masked all the fruits lying underneath. Very rich to start off with, and then layered, vanilla surfaced, turned creamy, then sour and then raspberry showed up and stayed there throughout.
