1985 Mouton Rothschild Pauillac

Initially was smoky with strong black fruits but the wine was still very closed. Waited for about 2 hours and it showed its colors. Nose of black currant, black pepper, lead pencil and slight tar. Palate is filled with juicy black fruits and lead. Tannin is strong and smooth, lively acidity and good long finish. Definitely a long life awaits this vintage!
一开瓶扑鼻而来的是烟熏味和黑果味。醒了两个小时才慢慢的露出真面目！后来鼻香出现了黑加伦，铅笔，黑胡椒，还有泵油味。单宁还是很重但是圆滑，活跃的酸度调节了回味很长。感觉需要很多年份这款酒才能成熟！

MOUTON’S STATUS 武当王的位置
Bear in mind just 12 years before 85 (ie 73), Mouton was only a . Mouton didn’t do too well in this vintage as well, just like Lafite and Latour. It should really be a tonight especially drinking next to Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion and Haut Brion. Strange spicy and black pepper nose. Content was fruit driven, broad and not very focused although decent elegance.
在1973年武当王被法国政府破格升为一级庄，但是今天在侯柏王85和白马85的陪同下，我更觉得武当王还是应该回去二级庄。香味参杂了一些香料和黑胡椒。武当王的重头戏是浓郁的果味，今天这瓶酒体有点扩散了，不是很集中，虽然还是感觉到柔顺。

BORDEAUX 85 TASTING 8
We held a tasting of Bordeaux 85 today with a blend of left and right bank: Mouton Rothschild, Leoville Las Cases, Gruaud Larose, Ducru Beaucaillou, La Lagune, La Gaffeliere, Figeac and Certan de May.
Mouton was Wine of the Day and consensus #1 choice amongst the 8 bottles opened. It wasn't surprising, as Mouton typically won by strong and powerful fruits, which has been a tradition prior to 89. This wine still has long life ahead as shown by it's tannins and strong fruits.
