1986 Chateau Dauzac Margaux 5th Growth
Chateau Dauzac is a rather under-rated wine that does not get a lot of attention. I’m not a big fan of it, not because I don’t enjoy the label, it’s because it has been difficult to find back vintages of this labels, thus I didn’t have a chance to drink it often enough to formulate a long-term opinion over this label. From a 1986 vintage, the characteristics of this vintage shows most Bordeaux wines possess a very youthful character. In fact, it’s wise to generalize it as “forever young” vintage. Dauzac 86 wasn’t as youthful as I was expecting, and it was definitively drinking at its prime age right now. Bouquet of warmth, soft and matured fruits aroma, closer to a summer floral blossom. Content wise, it’s fairly matured with loads of blackberries and violet, very Margaux style. Worth a try.
