1986 Troplong Mondot Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe
A gracious pillow of merlot with mineral tannins to make it mouthwatering and lengthen the finish.
This is a big wine from a moderately tannic vintage. I can feel that they have used very heavy oaking to perhaps try to mask the fruits, which I find it unnecessary, coz 86 is already a vintage with loads of tannins, putting more oak derived more vanilla taste, it's like pouring more oil on fire. Nevertheless, it can still age for many years without getting the fruits faded.
