1988 Hubert Lignier Clos de La Roche Grand Cru
DISASTER LIGNIER
I was served this bottle in a blind tasting, and my written comment was hopeless. Tobacco leaves, funky medicine, herb and dry mushroom dominated the nose. Very typical burgundy palette, coupled with stewed strawberries, dry prunes, dry red fruits, and worst, the wine tasted dirty. Not sure if it's the provenance of the bottle, or really a disastrous failure from such a reputable maker from a great vintage. I can't believe my eyes when the bottle was unveiled. Very disappointed.
