‘La Chapelle’ Hermitage is a jewel in Paul Jaboulet Aine’ collection, ranking as 12 greatest wines of 20th history.
The nose is intense; black cherry, sweet plums and roasted char siew!   I could wait no more and took a big sip. So satisfying. The body is rich and bold. The wine is complex. The dark fruits drool out more saliva, so inviting.
As the wine sits in my mouth, I find the flavours gently competing between fruit and tannins. A wine to enjoy relaxing at home. The wine shows no sign of stopping. Absolutely wonderful!
La Chapelle 88: There was once a customer read my notes on LC 85 that I didn’t like, so he tested me a night with 2 bottles, 85 and 88. I find it much smoother and much better than 85 next to it.

Amongst so many La Chapelle I’ve drank before, I enjoyed the 64, 67, 78, and also this 88 ranked highly too. Wasn’t a fantastic vintage to boot, but drinking definitely better than the 85 next to it (served blind)! Possessing a big and powerful nose, the body was very contrasting: Super easy, friendly, pleasant and creamy. Was very impressed with this vintage!
我喝过不少小教堂的酒，记忆里最深的是64，67，78和这个98年份的，比起在隔壁的85年份好多了！（全部都是公平的盲品）。鼻子带有浓厚和强烈的果味。内容完全相反；非常容易喝，友善，平易近人还有柔和的奶油味。真想不到这个低调的年份有这样好的表现！
