1989 Henri Bonneau Reserve Des Celestin Chateauneuf du Pape
BREAKING THE SCALE!
This wine was rare as a gem. Bonneau Celestin was the equivalent of Rayas in Southern Rhone. Of all the Bonneau I had before, they were great, while this vintage went beyond greatness.
Although a slightly disturbing nose of pharmaceutical, clinical and medicinal, the palate was where it really took off. Sincere and honest wine with utmost thickness but pure chunky fruits, it was surprisingly young with full of grips. I called it the Cheval Blanc Saint Emilion of Rhone. Easily my top wine for 2017!
