1990 Chateau de Fieuzal Pessac Leognan Graves Grand Classe
Chateau de Fieuzal from Pessac Leognan had a relatively long history who began it’s journey at the start of 19th century. Back in 1990, the chateau was owned by the well-known Ricard family, who also owned Domaine de Chevalier and Chateau Malartic Lagraviere. Style of 1990 has been quite an obvious deviation from the younger vintages as Hubert de Bouard (owner of Chateau Angelus) being the consultant. Bouquet of intense smoky notes as well as nice summer floral notes along with oak, earth and cedar. Body has a significant elevated acidity, a bit overwhelming but well integrated with the vastly dominating and bright red fruit reminiscent to cranberries. A youthful wine, did not taste like a typical 1990 Bordeaux, I prefer to age it for a couple more years before consuming it. Probably will reach it’s peak in another 5 years.
