1994 Louis Jadot Puligny Montrachet 1er Les Pucelles
SWEET DREAMS
I haven't drank this bottle for a while, so when I was offered spicy frog legs dinner, I didn't hesitate to pop this bottle.
Nose was quite unique in terms of very strong floral notes. Palate was so sweet it was very honey and honeysuckle driven, so intense and addictive that I finished the whole bottle without realizing that I finished it! A bit too ripe and forward to be a Pucelles which normally was more mineral than what I've tasted. Anyway, still a decent Pucelles despite poor vintage.

1994 WHITE BURGUNDY... Wasn't a fantastic vintage, just an average joe vintage. However, this bottle has exceeded my expectation. I'm starting to be persuaded that the better grade white burgundy winemakers use better oak to age their wines. At Grand Cru level it usually has a very high class elegant oak, at premier cru level not so restraint oak. This bottle fits the profile of 1er cru, a bit powerful and ripe fruits. Very ripe, almost honey like, dissolved acidity, decent layers. Surprised with Jadot.

Les Pucelles means the virgins in French, and this is the top premier cru plot in Puligny Montrachet, the nearest to the Grand Cru plots, namely Batard Montrachet and Bienvenues Batard Montrachet. Traditionally, Les Pucelles possessed mineral nose, slightly sweet and low in acidity. How about this Louis Jadot production? Almost there, very mineral nose, relatively sweet, and very ripe that I just don't feel any acidity lurking around. The ripeness is like a cooked Pomelo, very easy going & easy drinking.
