1995 Comtes Lafon Meursault Perrieres 1er Cru
I would call Comtes Lafon the queen of Meursault (the king rightfully belongs to Coche Dury), so expectation runs high, especially from Perrieres, a highly sort after plot in Meursault. In addition, white burgundies produced prior to 1996 has very little premox issue, thus it’s even more precious. The color showed a very matured dark yellowish shade. Loads of honey aromas with slight reduction. Surprisingly low acidity which is quite typical of Meursault wines, it really has very typical Perrieres characteristics of orange peel and tangerine flavor. Sadly, the wine did not give me a surprising moment of engagement, I feel that it was quite uncharacteristic of Comtes Lafon wines. I further suspect I prefer their Charmes more than Perrieres as I don’t recall any fantastic Perrieres I’ve ever had from Comtes Lafon.
