Domaine Ponsot was probably made famous by the mega faker Rudy Kurniawan heavy counterfeiting rather than coming to it's fame naturally. Laurent Ponsot testified about Rudy Kurniawan case made him an overnight fame.
Why did Rudy faked this label? Well, after I tasted the 1996 Clos de la Roche, I could understand why. It was over the scale balance, with a wide spectrum of taste, very approachable, friendly and most importantly, in the taste bud of Rudy and mine, very charming wine.
