Bok you’re crazy to give it a 5 stars! Sorry but I beg to differ, try it against any big guns, you’ll see what I mean. It really was the most ready wines amongst 12 bottles of Grand Vin Lafite and not any inferior. Something has to go, it was the nose a bit weak with typical smoky Lafite character. The content was extremely rich, elegant, forward and matured.

POWER WITH ELEGANCE
If you look down on second label, please wakeup. Carruades de Lafite 96 is something you never doubt. Couple of years ago we had a horizontal blind tasting of 96, including Haut Brion and a lot of second growth in the line up, and 12 wine connoisseurs casted their votes to this wine as an undisputed winner. I revisited this bottle tonight, totally persuaded. The kind of power initially followed by typical Lafite elegance, with layers after layers of complexity, had me gone home happily.

Beautiful deep coloured hue. Nice fruity nose. Powerful on the palate, round and a very good tannic finish (before fining), well balanced with woody notes.
This is a superb wine. We had it in a blind tasting, blew off top name labels like Haut Brion, Pichon Lalande, Calon Segur, Lagrange ... Etc. the kind of power, yet with elegance, is really like Lafite 96, no nonsense top wine.
