1997 Pichon Lalande Pauillac Grand Cru Classe
Served blind. The nose was very Pomerol, too sweet to be left bank I told myself, but it turned minty which was a hint that it's a left bank Cabernet Savignon wine. It didn't hit me hard enough, still swear by a Pomerol wine. Palette tells me even more Pomerol story rounded ness, although dryness and tannins also kicked in. Lalande with 40% Merlot just didn't cross my mind. Learned my lesson in this blind tasting. Even clues to point to a left bank Merlot based wine! Goodness! Stop making mistakes!
