1998 Domaine Rene Engel Grands echezeaux Grand Cru
TRAIN WRECK
I heard so much about this Rene Engel Grands Echezeaux as a life changing burgundy, and certainly my expectations were running Mount Everest high.
Nose was already upsetting me with strong varnishing paint, renovation funk and dirty. Content was nothing special, not any better than my daily drinking red burgundies, was quite dry and dirty.
I totally cannot understand why would anyone praise such type of wine? Later my friend told me bottle variation was high. Oh, for such stupid price?
