1998 La Gaffeliere Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classe
BALANCED AND STEADY 1998 was a great vintage for right bank Bordeaux. La Gaffeliere was a reliable Bordeaux label for many vintages (don't get confused with Canon la Gaffeliere). I liked the 98 vintage as unlike most right bank wines which are usually too big and bold, this wine does not try to shout to you for attention. Very balanced fruits and acidity, very approachable right now with very integrated tannins and fruits. I really enjoyed this wine, testimony was that I finished the whole bottle tonight.
